Saplı Adası

Number: 80
Latitude, longitude: 37.410283, 27.409200

The island Saplı Adası lies in the Bay of Akbuk c. 270 meters off the coast with which it is connected through a causeway. The island is about 250 x 500 m and 8 m tall. So far no excavations have been made.

According to Walter Voigtlander the island was first settled in the Neolithic period. Intense habitation began after the 7th cent. BCE. This conceils earlier habitation. However, Late Bronze Age pottery has been found.
