Luwian Studies Launches a Completely New Website

On May 15, 2015, the Luwian Studies Foundation unveiled its first comprehensive website available in English, Turkish, and German. At that time, news about the largely overlooked Luwian culture made headlines around the globe. For nearly a decade, the website offered key insights into the significance of Luwian culture. Throughout this period, it consistently featured updates on the most important developments in research regarding Luwian culture. However, the site had not been fully restructured – neither technically nor in terms of content. Now, almost ten years after its launch, it has been completely revamped.

The new website boasts a modern partly interactive design and presents its narrative in a more concise format. Special emphasis is placed on the research achievements of Luwian Studies over the past decade, a focus that is also reflected in the new illustrations. Although the extensive texts from the former website are no longer featured online, they have been preserved in the book The Luwian Civilization, published in English, German, and Turkish. The book can be ordered from the publisher or downloaded as a free PDF from this website or academia.edu.

Additionally, the new website has been built from the ground up to efficiently support the relational databases powering the LuwianSiteAtlas on the Semantic Web. We hope that it will reach as wide an audience as its predecessor. Its creation was made possible through dedicated teamwork, and we extend a big thank you to everyone involved.
