The ancient settlement is located near the village of Gelemiş in the district town of Kaş in the province of Antalya. The city has been excavated since 1988. During the excavations, an idol and a stone axe were found in the village of Tepecik, indicating the presence of an Early Bronze Age settlement in Patara. However, no Late Bronze Age settlement has been found so far.
