The Foundation Luwian Studies announces the publication of a new article on The Ancient Near East Today, volume 13.1: “Processing Geospatial Data in Archaeology: Introducing LuwianSiteAtlas for Bronze Age Western Anatolia.” In the article, Alper Aşınmaz and Eberhard Zangger examine modern geospatial mapping techniques and their application in Western Anatolia. They describe methods for collecting, processing, and analyzing digital spatial data, and discuss how these techniques lead to more precise interpretations of ancient sites. The integration of digital mapping with traditional archaeological methods offers practical insights for enhancing data accuracy and spatial analysis in the study of Anatolian heritage. The authors conclude that Western Asia Minor during the Middle and Late Bronze Age is emerging as an instructive example of interdisciplinary spatial analysis and a model for future landscape archaeology.
