Lecture by Eberhard Zangger in Zai Bodrum

Lecture on the End of the Bronze Age at ZAI Bodrum on October 3, 2025

On October 3, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., Eberhard Zangger will give a lecture entitled “Was Troy Atlantis – A New Look at the Bronze Age Collapse” at the ZAI Bodrum event location. After 25 years of silence on the subject of Troy and Atlantis, Zangger will once again speak publicly on this controversial topic. The lecture will focus on plausible reconstructions of the so-called crisis years around 1200 BCE, documented by dozens of Bronze Age records as well as later historiographical sources. Central questions such as “Who were the Sea Peoples?”, “What caused the collapse of the Hittite Empire?”, and “Did the Trojan War really happen?” will be addressed. While many interpretations invoke uncertain factors such as climate change or “earthquake storms,” Zangger’s model reduces these unknowns and instead outlines a coherent, source-based chain of events. All those in the Bodrum region with an interest in history are warmly invited to attend. The event is open to the public. The lecture will be filmed; by attending, visitors tacitly consent to possibly appearing in the recording.
